Ala ibn Ziyad says: "Whatever a man does, he always does riya. He wore his sleeves up, walked his head above, and recited the Qur'an raising his voice high. So wherever he went, people would abuse him and curse him. One day, Allah gave His servant ikhlas. Then he recited the Qur'an lowering his voice, and performed his prayer with Allah secretly. Now, wherever he goes, people will be praying for him. "
