Abu Qatada reported it from his father:
The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: None of you should hold penis with his right hand while urinating, or wipe himself with his right hand in privy and should not breathe into the vessel (from which he drinks).
In this hadith, the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) teaches you and us the three good moralities of Muslims.
1. ‘None of you should hold penis with his right hand while urinating’
The right hand is for the pure things, and for the food, and the left hand is reserved for the unclean. Therefore, the penis should not be held with the right hand when urinating.
2. ‘None of you should wipe (istinjo) himself with his right hand in privy’
That is, the one who has been in privy should clean his back with his left hand instead of his right hand.
3. ’… should not breathe into the vessel (from which he drinks)
That is, one should not breathe into a container, when he drinks from it, but let him breathe outward.
These habits should always be followed. It is worth noting that these are some of the features of Muslim culture that distinguish Muslims from others.
