Allah Almighty says in Surah al-Mulk:

And they will say, “Had we listened or reasoned, we would not have been among the inmates of the Blaze.” (Verse 10)

So they will acknowledge their sins. So away with the inmates of the Blaze. (Verse 11)

Because they regretted it over time. If they had repented in this world, Allah's mercy is extence, and their sins would be forgiven. But what is the benefit of their confession over time?

Next, Allah Almighty will explain what will be believers' position on the Day of Judgment.

As for those who fear their Lord in secret—for them is forgiveness and a great reward. (Verse 12)

May each of us be among the believers those who fear their Lord in secret—for them is forgiveness and a great reward.
