It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
"Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim."

Narrated Anas radiallahu anhuWhenever drought threatened them, `Umar bin AlKhattab, used to ask AlAbbas bin Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain.
