Invoking Allah for Rain (Istisqaa)

Narrated Anas radiallahu anhu:

Whenever drought threatened them, `Umar bin Al-Khattab, used to ask Al-Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain. He used to say, "O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allah ! Bless us with rain." And so it would rain.

Allahaposs Apostle peace be upon him replied, quotThe night prayer is offered as two Rakat followed by two Rakat and so on and if anyone is afraid of the approaching dawn Fajr prayer he should pray one Rakat and this will be a Witr for all the Rakat which he has prayed before.quot
